Our Intent
At Sholing Junior School, our Design Technology curriculum nurtures curious thinkers who explore ideas with imagination, creativity and innovation. We encourage children to ask questions, investigate how things work and develop their confidence to tackle real-life practical challenges with resilience and enthusiasm.
Through a culture of kindness, pupils learn to collaborate respectfully, value one another’s ideas and adapt existing designs with empathy and consideration. They work both independently and as part of a supportive team, learning from mistakes and celebrating each other’s progress.
Our engaging curriculum equips children with the skills to design and make purposeful products, drawing on knowledge from English, mathematics, science, art, computing and history. By reflecting critically on their work and striving for ever-improving accuracy, children experience success as proactive problem-solvers who leave Sholing Junior School ready to shape the world around them with creativity, confidence and care.
